This editorial was taken from philstar, and I have my own opinion regarding with this editorial.

The full impact of the global economic slowdown is expected to be felt this year, according to economic analysts. And while conservative banking policies have spared the Philippines from the worst of the crisis, the country is also starting to feel its impact, with exports falling and overseas workers being sent home.

Even before the credit crunch blew up in the face of Americans, affecting the rest of the world, the Philippines was already suffering from weakening investments. The global crisis aggravated the trend. In the first 10 months of 2008, foreign direct investments plunged 47 percent compared to the same period in 2007, reaching only $1.418 billion, according to data from the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas. Some quarters observed that having a low level of FDI to begin with helped shield the country from the worst of the crisis. But this should not be used as an excuse to neglect structural reforms that are needed to lure more job-generating long-term investments.

Though the country registered its highest economic growth in three decades in 2007, the government has admitted that benefits of the growth have been slow in trickling down to the poor. The country also lags way behind its Southeast Asian neighbors in attracting foreign visitors and FDI. Remittances of about eight million Filipinos working overseas account for a hefty chunk of economic growth figures. Those jobs are now imperiled by the global slowdown.

As nations race to recover from the slump, the best performers will be those that implement the necessary reforms. In the case of the Philippines, whose competitiveness has been on an unending slide, the needed reforms have long been known. The latest Index of Economic Freedom, prepared by the Washington-based think-tank Heritage Foundation together with The Wall Street Journal, reminds the nation of some of those needed reforms.

The index, which ranked the Philippines 104th among 183 countries in terms of economic freedom, gave the country the lowest score in freedom from corruption. The index noted the weakness of the judicial system and its vulnerability to political influence. It noted the difficulty of enforcing contracts and protecting intellectual property rights, and said the Philippine government imposed both formal and non-formal barriers to foreign investments.

Many of those observations are worth heeding if the nation wants to be poised for economic takeoff once the world recovers from the downturn. We can’t be middling forever in these international rankings, lagging way behind Asia’s most successful economies such as Hong Kong and Singapore, which were rated first and second, respectively, in the index.

Reaction:

As I saw and hear about this news regarding of the Global economic slowdown, I can say that, it affects a lot in all countries. As all we know, US is one of the riches country in this world, And if that country suffer crisis, for sure all countries affected. As of now, Philippines is suffering from this crisis. Lots of Overseas Filipino Workers were sent back in the Philippines because of losing job around the globe and failing investments from the higher and bigger business. Investments are going slower because of this crisis. As the surveys concerned, Philippines ranked at 104^th among 183 countries in terms of economic freedom and gave the lowest score in freedom from corruption and because of that it leads to difficulty of implementing contracts and protecting property rights from the formal and non formal foreign investments.

Alone

For the meantime, I’m alone. My boyfriend left for retreat. He has to spend three days at the retreat house where we had our retreat last November, His there since January 14 and he will be home tomorrow.

This is compulsory to all graduating students in UIC.

So, right now I’m alone, aloof and sad. Because I cant see him for three days, and it’s going to be hard for me, spending my spare time without him. Too bad!.. I really miss my boyfriend, but still I’m thankful because I can spend enough time together with my classmates, mingle with them and have fun. I know it’s a different feeling when you are with your classmates and when you're with your boyfriend. It is a kind of dissatisfaction, thinking that there's a missing piece of you. But still I cope up to that emotion and I do enjoy their company, which made me forget him for a meantime.

And now I’m excited seeing him, for sure.. I’m going to neither hug him nor kiss him. Heheheheh… See you soon Daddy!..

Im back!!

Just this day, my internet connection is back and I’m happy. At last! I can now continue my daily routine. I can now continue blogging with a new life in a new year. I can now update my life and right down some gossips, chikkas and everything.. wahahahaha.. What a nice objective. hehehe. Blog, blog, blog…

Re-treat @ St. Benedict Monastery

The computer science students of UIC had their retreat at St. Benedict Monastery at Cogon, Digos. They to spent 3 days and two night with the monks and Nance. The place was so nice, they have this farm full of flowers and animals. The ambiance is so relaxing, maybe because of the quite place far from the city. The place helps me to meditate and reflect from what father Istong taught us.

He taught us about the cycle of life, the importants of the families and how to handle life problems. I really admired him for the ideas he imposed to us, his perception in life, his love and words of wisdom. He is really one of a kind priest. He really has the sense of humor which he can entertain people at the same time shared the words of God. God is really good.

And from our retreat I had so many realization and discoveries towards life. I appreciated many things, like; we are made according to the image and likeness of God. So there are no reasons for me to felt this way, a feeling that is uncomfortable thinking that I might not good enough to be loved by someone.

Fr. Istong and Gods word helped me to mold again the Ellen Navarro that have self confident and a fighter in every circumstance that she encounters along her way. They helped her to be strong.

I really love spending time with Fr. Istong, I didn’t fe bored. Because what he taught for us really installed in my mind. I still hope and pray that I may continue what I’ve learned from him.

Thank you father Istong, most specially THANK YOU GOD!

Happy Birthday

First, IM thankful that God give me another year of living. Spend time to my love ones..

Its my birthday tomorrow, and I’m turning 20.. Maybe Im too old? I’m not anymore a teenager, but still, I look like a teenager. wahahaha.. Maybe because of my height.. Whew..☻

I've loved you since the day I met you. The first day I saw you, I already knew, you are the person that I longing to. I sailed on my mind that I want you, I need you and now I really do. All that I’ve done are worthy; just to have you in mine. Despite of the consequences that I might encounter because of betraying my friend, still I don’t care as long as I have you, you’re there for me and a part of me. Although I believe in the word “karma”, but still I pursued what I’ve started and believing that God may understand me, for even He felt what I felt for you. And now for having you in a long time, I am contented in my life. I am thankful. I am happy and most of all I am satisfied!.. I DO LOVE YOU since before, now and FOREVER!

My Business Plan

In planning my business, there are several factors that i have to consider in order for my business to be successful. First, i have to consider what kind of business? who are my competitors? what are the consideration in choosing the place in constructing the building?What are the specialties in my business. Many more!..

If i want to have a business, it would be a restobar, A restaurant in the morning and bar in the evening. Don't you think I earn bigger profit in that case? What would be my aims to gain more profit?

first, to provide good quality of food to our valued customers. Me and my employees, aim to serve them with fastest and healthy food. In this business we consider the students, employees or everyone as part of our customers, which we treasured most. We are expecting higher rate for them, because we guarantee them good services.

In able to supervise this business, we have our manager, supervisor, employee and attendant to help us in managing this company. I am going to train them well in order to gain deep relationship and better treatment to our customers. If this business will succeed in the near future, we are going to make another branch to gained more profit. We have our objectives that, in five years we can produce three or more branches. We do have our strategies, promotions and gimmicks in order to click our business.

We all know that there are also Risk that we have to consider in this industry, so here are some of my assessment risk that i may encounter in processing my business..

The major threat in this business are the competitors and because of that assemble strategies, promotions and gimmicks which we stated in our marketing plans in order to take advantage of possible ways to gain more customers and not get turn over by our competitors. We are pressured with the fast dining service we have for our customers because more customers would mean more foods to cook and to serve, and if this is the case we might not be at good service anymore with our customers. We are also anxious for the first few days of our opening because our customers might not like the taste of the foods/dishes that we will serve them. And most of all, they might not like their stay in our place.

But still,

The mission of having this company is to be able to serve the customer with the fastest service and convenient place, a good dining experience. We will offer consumers with the healthy and affordable food Also, for the customers will be entertained and well pleasure by the attendant. Our services will exceed the expectation of the customers. It comprises specialty of food, create new recipe, unique mixing of the ingredients. We guarantee 100% of our delicious, helthy food and servisec.

It struck me most because, I want it to happen to me, in reality. I am wondering, who would be that handsome guy, who will visit me in the middle of that night just to say I LOVE YOU. As i picture out that condition, it's really romantic. I cant imagine myself.. hrhrhrhrh.. It is like a fairy tale.. hahahaii.. I wish, there is someone who will do that for me..

Need Help!

I know there are things you have to consider. And for that, it helps my personality to think wider and reflect on things for the benefit of others. By this time, I can’t imagine my self doing this sacrifice nor assume for what I will gain, but instead I reflect about what he feels and what he wants. I will fight for what I feel, and set things right. I keep on my mind, that we can defeat this situation. Just have trust on yourself and in our relationship. We can make it!. There’s no such word “impossible” when it comes to our God. Just trust Him. Also, help yourself to overcome it, I cannot make it on my own because both of us are involve in this situation. Just hold tight. In addition, help me to push through what we have started, because there are times that I can’t help myself to think negative and lost courage. So let us help each other. May God Be With Us Always. Always Pray!.

BABY BLOO

This morning, I have received a teddy bear from my boyfriend which I named it "Baby Bloo", because it's so cute and I love the blended color. Also, Blue is my favorite color. He really surprised me this day even though there's no occasion to be celebrate. I really appreciated what he did for me. And because of that my heart melt every time I see my baby bloo.. I love my baby bloo so much as well as i love my daddy!.. thanks daddy!.. until my next surprise!..hehe.. thank you God!..

Eden

Just this day, My boyfriend text me that Im invited in his titas birthday this coming July 26, which they will celebrate at EDEN Resort.

Im so thankful that his tita invited me at the same time I was included in the budget. Daddy told me that it was already paid the reservation of the resort. But still the problem is there, Im thinking if my parents allow me to go with them.

Hoping I can go with them.

FRIEND

Having a friends help you to mold your personality because they are the one who critic you in everything. A friend also assists you in your problems. Through thick and tin, friends are there to comfort you and cherish you. You can lean on in their shoulder, ready to listen on your problems whether it is redundant and most of all they won’t let you down. Boyfriends may lose but not your true friends. Right?

But,

Are there any requirements or qualification to have a true friend? Is it necessary to choose a friend to have acquaintance? How valuable your friends? Do you treat them special as well as you treat your special love one? How about those friends that in an instant they are back fighting against you or other friend of yours? Why do people like that? Do you still considered that as a TRUE FRIEND??

Well For me, my friends always lend their hands on me when I’m in need Even though I don’t have enough time to bond with them because of my busy schedule. I’m proud of having them as my true friends because they are protecting me against all the gossips behind my back. I know I have my mistakes. I know sometimes I neglect to go out with them. But still I’m making my ways to be with them even in a short of time. Now I’m happy of my life because as days passes by, I gain new circle of friends and hoping they are true to me. Hoping they are always with me till death do us part. :D

You’re acting like a kid. And at your age you must be matured enough to think and to decide, whether things are good or not. Don't blame others for what problems you may encounter, because you are the one who is involve for that situation.
